Getting going with LightCMS

After launching appsftw.com, I’ve been looking at some pretty cool web apps. Some of the apps are completely interesting and just stand out, although that would depend on the type of app you’ve got your eye out for. Being a designer/developer, the apps that quickly grab my attention are those centered around what I mainly do.

Recently, I’ve come across LightCMS and it does a pretty good job of enabling designers to build sites for themselves as well as clients. It’s packed is a good set of features, including the ability of managing multiple sites, pricing and billing customers, integrate e-commerce features, search and more.

The pricing on the site makes sense. For $19 a month, you can have a site with up to 10 pages with 5GB of storage. You can view the rest of the details by going here.

When you first sign up, you get an address like (yourname.publishpath.com). Editing the settings of your site will allow you to change this to yourname.com. This involves updating the A record of your DNS to point to their address. I did a quick test with it on one of my domains and it worked excellent.

All in all, if you’re thinking of launching a site for yourself or as a web design business, with the absolute minimal understanding of code, this might be your route.
