Building a Solid Cloud Architecture for SMBs

ZendCon 2016, Las Vegas NV – Oct 21, 2016
When you’re a business with an online presence, achieving a 99.999% uptime is critical. Yet with many SMBs, this is usually either a prayer or a reliance on the in-house IT person to figure things out. In some cases, you rely on a service provider such as a hosting company, or the managed team assigned to your cloud VM. All in all, it’s never really an implementation decision. In this talk, we will look at how SMBs can take advantage of the cloud, and use some of the open source tools available to build a solid cloud architecture.

CCA-MAP and iCCA-MAP: stationary and mobile WSN localisation algorithms

International Journal of Autonomous and Adaptive Communications Systems (IJAACS), 2014 – Vol. 7, No.1/2
Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) are usually randomly deployed in a region of interest. As a result, algorithms that can determine the location of sensor nodes within a WSN are of great importance. In recent years, several localisation algorithms have been proposed for stationary WSNs. Due to the growing number of applications requiring mobility, algorithms for localising mobile WSNs have also gained much interest as of late. In this paper, we present our recent works on localisation algorithms for WSNs. An algorithm for mobile WSNs, which extends the stationary CCA-MAP algorithm, is presented. The algorithm, called iCCA-MAP, applies an iterative and efficient nonlinear data mapping technique in order to localise the position of a mobile node within a WSN. Simulations detailing the performance of iCCA-MAP are outlined and discussed. We also describe the implementation of the CCA-MAP localisation algorithm on a real WSN testbed. Most localisation algorithms that have been proposed only provide simulation results and have never been implemented on a real testbed. The results obtained show that the implementation results are consistent with the simulation results.

Implementation of the CCA-MAP localization algorithm on a wireless sensor network testbed

Wireless Communications and Mobile Computing Conference (IWCMC), 2011 7th International
Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) are usually randomly deployed in a region of interest. As a result, algorithms that can compute the location of sensor nodes within a WSN are needed. In recent years, several localization algorithms have been proposed for stationary WSNs. However, most studies only provide simulation results and most algorithms have never been implemented on a real testbed. In this paper, we implement a localization algorithm called CCA-MAP on a real WSN testbed. To the best of our knowledge, the CCA-MAP algorithm is amongst the best performing algorithms proposed for stationary WSNs. The results obtained show that the implementation results are consistent with the simulation results.
