Getting started on better website optimization

In a recent discussion with a fellow marketer, I was surprised at the level of attention to detail he had when it came to the creation of content. It’s a known fact that many companies and websites will generally rely on Google’s methodologies when it comes to website optimization. They have the most popular search engine, and everything else, so it’s only natural we align ourselves around their tools and services.

From that conversation, a few things came to light.

Switching Gears

It’s been a while since I last posted blog on this site. I have been in full gear on all fronts, coding away on various projects.

Q2 of 2010 has brought many changes. Right from the start, I decided to finally park the Alero that I’ve poured countless hours and countless upgrades into. I made a promise to drive it till the wheels fell off. With a few klicks from the 300k mark, I think I did a pretty good job.

DCMI Dublin Core Metadata Initiative

In the previous post, I talked about including geographical information in your metadata. This post continues on by looking at standardizing on metadata information for websites.

In 1995, a workshop took place in Dublin, Ohio and the objective was to develop interoperable metadata standards. The Organization that came out of that workshop is called the Dublin Core Metadata Initiative (DCMI).

Geotagging a website
